Working with schools, parents and groups

Staff Training for Schools and Workshops for Parent Groups in the Cotswolds

Practical, relatable training from someone who has worked on both sides.

I spent over a decade as a primary school teacher and led mental health in school, so I understand the pressures staff face and what helps in a busy classroom.

I've also delivered hands-on education workshops in a museum setting, so my sessions are practical and interactive, not just slides. I'm now a counsellor, and I offer training and workshops for schools, parent groups and community organisations in the Cotswolds and surrounding areas that bring these perspectives together.

For school staff

Sessions can be tailored to your setting, as a twilight, INSET or shorter slot. Examples include:

  • Supporting anxious pupils in the classroom
  • Understanding and responding to emotionally based school avoidance
  • Behaviour as communication: responding to big emotions
  • Listening skills and responding to disclosures for pastoral staff and TAs

For parents, carers and groups

Workshops for parent groups, schools, mum groups or community organisations. Examples include:

  • Supporting an anxious child at home
  • Understanding big emotions and after-school meltdowns
  • Moving up to secondary school
  • Looking after yourself when your child is struggling with school
  • Parenting and identity: finding yourself in the early and school years. A reflective, supportive session on the identity shifts, guilt and mental load of parenting, with time for questions and signposting to further support.

What to expect

Sessions are practical and relaxed, with space for questions, and you leave with strategies you can use straight away. Drawing on my experience of delivering hands-on museum workshops, I use interactive, creative activities as well as discussion, so sessions are engaging for adults and children alike. I can adapt content, length and format to your needs.
